prairie

A prairie is an expansive, sunlit area devoid of or sparsely populated with trees. Prairies often have well-drained soils with a diverse array of sun loving grasses and perennials that provide support for various wildlife. While many prairie species are scarce in Ohio, numerous plants can thrive in prairie habitats and meet the needs of local pollinators. This is often an ideal habitat target for converted lawns with full sun and may often mix with wetland meadow habitats.
